Shy Girls - Under Attack
Portland, Oregon: a place of misfits and a place of beauty.
That is exactly how this feels. Headed by Portland native Dan Vidmar is the gourgeous new project titled Shy Girls. His voice settles in nicely between the fog of the synth and the gratifying harmonies. With an early 90s feel, this soul jam will take you back, way back. The song gets even sweeter as soon as that jazzed up sax sways into the spotlight.
I can tell you right now that this is not the last time you will hear from Shy Girls. We need more indie soul in this world. Stream his previous effort Sex in the City EP.

Real Estate’s band leader and BK scene king Matt Mondanile has been running a boutique label, putting out limited wax of his friends’ material. His sixth release is from Alex Craig (of Big Troubles, Ducktails), with this new project that includes Ariel Zambenedetti and Eric Shaw. This b-side is a sweet blend of acid-washed vocals and low-end synth lines ripped from an 80’s teen pulp film.
Get this single b/w “You Must Be Dreaming” 7” on New Images Ltd. NYers shouldn’t miss them playing Cameo Gallery in BK this weekend.
