FEATURE :: Neufvoin // Polar Song

Although none of us want to even think about snow yet, this Finland band sets us up perfectly for winter. Neufvoin’s calm/soft chilling vibes just give you that feeling of snow crunching beneath your feet as you walk and the sun rising behind you. This young group of five create a fascinating atmosphere which is a glowing mixture of Broken Social Scene, Efterklang and Sigur Rós.

Neufvoin’s earlier release Robokop EP made them one of the most promising indie acts in Finland. With their fresh new Fake Musket EP (released on October 6th 2010), Neufvoin has moved towards a more experimental and deeper sound. Fake Musket was produced by Rubik’s frontman Artturi Taira.
Guitarist, keyboardist, and vocalist Anssi tells how it all went down in the studio:
“The EP was recorded at Kulttuuritalo. New Music Community has a studio there in the smaller concert hall called Alppisali. The recording sessions took nine days including vocals, and we recorded five songs for our EP. We recorded at a very fast pace. We had long days and long hours. A couple of times we started at 10 AM and worked until 5 AM the next morning. Even though the days were long, everything was well organized. We had planned a schedule of what to record per one day.”
